How are voice lessons set up at UE?
Good question!
Here's how it works. For a voice major, you will receive one hour lesson per week. Depending on your instructor, this will be either two half hour lessons or one hour long lesson. This will be in the teacher's studio and you will work on whatever repertoire is required for you for that semester and any special things you are working on (like the opera or a choral solo, etc.).
A non-major typically takes a half-hour lesson per week.
Does that answer your question? Post again for more info.

What is the typical type/amount of repertoire that a student will study during a semester?
What is the typical type/amount of repertoire that a student will study during a semester?
This will depend on your year and major, but the minimum requirement is two songs (one in italian) plus exercises the first year, and then songs (and languages) are added each year until the senior year will be about six songs per semester. We find that having lighter requirements towards the begin allows for more vocal development because more time can be focused on the voice and not learning repertoire.
This does mean that you may only learn two or anything, this is just a minimum requirement. As the degrees go forward, there is a heavier requirement obviously for performance majors. In addition, solos in choir and opera are learned in addition to jury repertoire, so these would also be worked on in your lesson.
